   In1901thecitizens(公民)ofColoradoSpringsintheUSAdecide...

In 1901 the citizens (公民)of Colorado Springs in the USA decided to collect everyday things and to put them in a steel box. On the box was written “To be opened after midnight, December 31st, AD 2000”, and was stored in the Colorado College library.

One hundred years later, on the very day, 300 people came together to watch the opening of the box. Among them, many were the grandchildren of those who had placed things inside the box.

When the box was opened after midnight, everything inside was in good condition (完好). There were newspapers, photos, diaries, name cards, family trees, books and dozens of letters, including one written by Theodore Roosevelt(罗斯福), who became the President of the USA later that year.
