There are a lot of students who are unsure about how to drive in winter, especially when it is their first time driving in the snow. Accidents happen all the time, but not only by teens. Adults are at fault almost just as much as teens. Here are some tips that can help you drive easier and safer in the snow:

Take your time: When accelerating remember to do it slowly. When approaching a stopping point, make sure you have plenty of time and use your brakes wisely. Do not stomp on(重踏) your brakes, ever. When you stomp on your brakes, your car can't move right and will turn uncontrollably.

Maintain your car: Make sure that everything in your car is up to date and ready for use. Check to make sure your tires are in good condition and your battery is very alive. Batteries have a harder time working in the cold weather. Clear your windows of all snow and frost so that you can see everything around you.

Be prepared: You should always have items in your car that can help you in case of an emergency. These such items can be: flashlights, jumper cables, shovel for getting snow off your car or windows and maybe digging your car out, snowbrush, a warning device, and lastly a blanket. Also check to see if your cellphone has a full battery and is ready, but not in hand as a distraction.

Plan your route: Allow yourself to take time to figure out where you are going. Have a map set up before you leave and mark out where important buildings are such as gas stations or markets. Give yourself plenty of time to arrive at your location. Inform people of your departure time and your expected arrival time.
